Copenhagen - February 2013

A city break to liven up the winter months. We had only ever changed flights at the airport before, so this was our first proper visit to Denmark. It's a wonderful country, and we must go back.

A short walk from our hotel took us to Gammel Strand.

Lots of boats in Nyhavn even in the winter. [click for larger image] We did tend to take refuge in a bar every now and again - this was a lovely one in Nyhavn.

A bridge between royal palces in Amalienborg Plads.

Bicycles are all over the place in Copenhagen. [click for larger image] A nice little carving in the pub not far from our hotel that we visited quite a few times - Søren's Værtshus. Very friendly and cosy.

Ah! Time for a nightcap. Back in the hotel after a long day being a tourist.
[click for larger image] These people apparently give a blast on the horn when a virgin walks by. Apparently it's not heard very often ... [click for larger image]
Another wonderful carving, this one in a bar (I think) where we went out to hear some live music. [click for larger image] Danish style in our hotel, Hotel Twentyseven. We thought it was great.

Yes it was cold in February - my camera battery didn't like it! - but the people were friendly, the food and drink were great, the city is beautiful. We'll be back sometime.
