Italy - September 2011

An autumn break to Italy again. The weather was a fantastic change from the summer we'd had in Scotland - Italy was lovely and warm, with sunshine every day.

Back in Bologna again - the Asinelli tower always gets in there! [click for larger image] We made a trip to Verona by train, and found a great little restaurant for our lunch.

The Roman theatre in Verona is in a spectacular stting; here's a view of the Adige from above the theatre. [click for larger image] After Bologna we took the high speed (300km/h) train to Torino. The Po was very calm in the heat.

From Torino we visited Lago d'Orta (thanks Fi for the driving!) and took the little boat to Isola di San Giulio.

We also visited Cremona to see some fantastic violins, bever having been so close before to Amati, Stradivarius and Guarneri. [click for larger image] The Torrazzo of Cremona has a wonderful astronomical clock. [click for larger image]

Lovely to be in Italy again. We were lucky on our return to catch the last of a brief warm period extending even to Scotland - so we reacclimatised slowly!
